Aliens Probably Have a Well Developed Sense of Humor

Yeah, that'll spook'em.

  1. It's advertising for other aliens:
"Last Chance Probing for next 200 light years"
"Big Joe's, best burgers in the Galaxy. Take hyperspace bypass 5, 3 light years"

    2. :) After all, if the blog lady ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

You could always call the bacon hotline, or just go ahead and rub some bacon it.

    3. 'Round these parts, this year's bacon is Cuddles.

      We eat our pets.

    4. I'm not sure if bacon on the hoof works. Might be worth a shot though.

    5. It's not "on the hoof" any longer. Cuddles is in the frig.

The kids raise lambs and pigs in FFA. We end up eating our lamb every year, and usually buying someone else's pig.

      LOVE me some bacon.

    7. Apparently those of us without our own pigs are doomed. Looming economic armageddon and without bacon too. A bleak future is one thing, but now we're talking bleak.

    8. YIKES! Good thing I have a freezer. I don't think I could last long without bacon...or pork chops...or sausage...or ham.

  2. The local 4-H shows annually just before the San Diego County Fair at the nearby Lakeside Rodeo grounds. It really is a morale booster to see the truly squared away kids who are involved. It's a positive contrast to the vacuous little twits I see every day in the city.

    1. Yup. 4-H and FFA. Great kids.

Everyone who believes in the values of this country and EATS MEAT should go to the auctions and BUY these kids' animals. It's a fabulous way to support them.

    2. Our family were those 4H people too. We raised more than a few steers in our family and the local restaurants were great in their support. It taught a lot of lessons that city kids are sheltered from. All of my nieces and nephews were raise in the city and there are noticeable differences in beliefs because of them, I think.

Yes, I think it is understandable. If there is one significant difference between liberals and conservatives, it's that conservatives choose to live in the "real" world and liberals want to live in la-la land. You rarely find a liberal branding cattle and breaking colts.

Cities allow you the luxury of thinking your meat comes from the store wrapped in cellophane and that no animals were injured in the process.

Ex farm boy myself. Yep, you don't have a tendency of living in lala land when you've watched your dad cut the throat of a sheep for that months mutton. That and the many other realities of life that farm living teaches.

    1. Every year my daughter re-learns that lesson as she says good-bye to her FFA lamb at the fair, knowing he will be taken to the butchers the next day.

It's always hard. There are tears. But it's life. And it's best not to avoid it. Avoiding the realities of life doesn't make them go away - it only makes them dangerous instead of just sad.
