Because Voter ID laws will force huge numbers of people to stay home. People who are normally functioning members of society. People who are well-informed and self-sufficient in all other aspects of their life, but who can't be expected to have a picture ID because that is so incredibly burdensome and RACIST!!!
For my money, any adult who can't be bothered to get an ID to buy liquor or to go to a pawn shop doesn't need to be giving us his opinion on who should be running this country.
Sit down and shut up.
Voter ID laws aren't to eliminate the black vote. They are to eliminate the stupid vote. THAT comes in every color.
I honestly cannot BELIEVE this issue is even an issue, that there are actual people out there who don't plainly see that the only reason anyone is really opposed to voter ID laws is because they won't be able to cheat anymore.
ReplyDeleteGAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I HATE THEM ALL.
Really losing my patience lately. Really, really, really losing it.
We're doomed, aren't we?
The only and I mean ONLY drawback to showing photo ID is for anyone who is so disinterested in voting that remembering to bring their driver's license is a hassle. Frankly, I don't want them voting.
DeleteIf someone can make the argument that a 17 year old kid isn't motivated to get a fake ID to buy beer, I'll understand how requiring an ADULT to show legal ID to vote is somehow "suppressing" their rights.
And, of course, it's only Democrats who are screaming, which means right there somethings's off. They only times they really howl is when their cheating is being attacked. Like forced union dues.
I would even go so far as to posit the question: so what?
So what if voter ID's suppress a certain demographic? So fucking what???? You have to weigh the cost/benefit ratio. On the one hand, you MIGHT get a suppression of the most ill-informed and unmotivated voter imaginable, while on the other hand you are DEFINITELY insuring honest elections.
WTF? Who can argue against that?
Democrats.
Yes, doomed looks likely. The Fed has decided to go ahead with QE3, they're more dense than I thought possible. A black hole hole of stupidity. Fixing the fiscal catastrophe is difficult but possible, fixing the social catastrophe is difficult but possible. Having to fix them both at the same time is orders of magnitude harder, and we've got all these total idiots running around doing everything they can think of to make them both worse.
ReplyDeleteI'm just glad I live in the area of the country where people have more guns than kids.
DeleteAnd we have a little land, so we can grow our own food. AND we eat our pets.
Life is going to get really really interesting. The Chinese say, "May you be born in interesting times." I say, "Screw the Chinese. I HATE that expression."
The whole "ID is racist" thing is a dodge. Sleight of hand. Meant to distract you. The point is to cheat, and to get you arguing about irrelevance in order to let them get away with cheating.
ReplyDeleteApply Alinksy: Requiring ID to vote is not racist, but assuming that brown people are too stupid to get ID *is* racist.
There's a two-pronged attack to turn the topic back on the Left.
M
Exactly, Mark.
DeleteRequiring ID to vote is not racist, but assuming that brown people are too stupid to get ID *is* racist.
Yup. All laws that favor someone merely for the circumstances of their birth or the color of their skin ARE racist by their very nature. And they create a system of corruption and cheating because the favors are handed out through those in power. Can't be otherwise.
The problem is pointing out that they're being racist only works if they actually care about racism. I don't think they really care about any of their "causes". It's all pretense, the only thing they really care about is power and the cash it can deliver.
DeleteDamnit, I prefer being cheerful and constructive to angry and pessimistic. It's really, really hard to do sometimes though.
DeleteHAHAHA! You already read this, and I just deleted it to repost because I found so many typos. (shakes fist at you!) HAHAHA!
DeleteRG, that's it, of course. The left is about the acquisition of power because it is collectivist at its heart. So their "causes" are simply excuses to convince others to relinquish their personal power to the "group", which is them.
This is the struggle and it has been so since the dawn of man. We have ALWAYS lived in social groups and the balance between the power of the group and the power of the individual has been the mark of civilization every step of the way. When we devolve into tribal collectivism, we plunge into barbarism and insanity. The Dark Ages. When we drag ourselves out of the depths of fear and darkness that collectivism inevitably promotes, we ascend to a society that recognizes the individual's right to his own choices and life.
The course of the advancement of man can be graphed on the rights of the individual.

DeleteI don't often notice typos and such in comments unless somebody points them out. I think the usual conversational style causes me to read what somebody "said" without worrying about the technicalities.
They know they'll lose 10% of their voting block when identification is required. Any other explanation is horseshit.
ReplyDeleteYes, the Democrats do have the zombie vote locked down.
DeleteYeah. What YOU said.
ReplyDeleteThe real misdirection/dodge here is that it does not discriminate from LAW ABIDING people. It does discriminate against illegal immigrants and people who have not been caught by the law, and never want to be. And the kicker is that most of these people, along with indigents with no real district in the first place never do intend to vote. I guess some may vote to get foodstamps for their Mom or to get easier penalties for crime, etc.
ReplyDeleteRG;
ReplyDeleteI think you're right. But there's an audience out there beyond the fourth wall, and they ARE persuasible. Showing the Left's true face to THEM can have a salutary effect.
