Freedom's Swan Song

This is long, over 45 minutes, but well worth your time no matter which camp you are in. For those who desire freedom, bow your heads. For those who value authoritarianism and believe that you can control it for your own benefit, raise your arms.

History is replete with those who believed they could seize power and wield it wisely. History is also filled with the graves of those who stood in the way of this desire. I pray our new overlords are kinder than others have been.

Ron Paul, in his last address on the House floor, makes a plea for freedom, even in these final hours.

Ron Paul may have his "crazy moments", but this speech is perhaps the last speech about real freedom that we will ever hear from an elected official. It gets really good at around 10:00 minutes in.

NEW TAX

Effective Jan 1, 2013, aspirin will be taxed under Obama's Affordable Care Act.  The explanation was that they are white and they work.

No other reason was given.

CODE!!!

And I don't care. When I read that it is racist to like white turkey meat, my head split completely in two like Zeus' and out leaped, fully clothed in armor, White Wonder Woman. And ALL bets are now off.

If everything is racist, then it might as well be funny. Because otherwise, it is merely tragic.

Your evening's musical entertainment.

Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, written in 1844, is one of the greatest concertos ever composed. It is one of those rare pieces of music that is impossible for me to listen to and do anything else. No, it stops me short, right in the middle of a word or a movement or a thought, frozen by a force that sweeps over me with a physical sensation that transports me to, not a place, but a state of mind. The only movement possible is to close my eyes.

The iPhone has its drawbacks.

Delicately tapping the screen of my iPhone just doesn't convey the same level of insouciant contempt. In fact, nothing has quite the same degree of finality as slamming the receiver down in the cradle of an old telephone. You KNEW you had been hung up on then.

Every advancement in technology doesn't improve life.

Oh, for the good old days.

Things that bother me more than they should.

  • Handicapped licenses plates on cars doing 90. What's the rush? You always get the best damn parking spots anyway.
  • People who play crappy music too loudly.
  • People who play great music too softly.
  • Anyone, anytime, anywhere who borrows something of mine and doesn't put it back. You can use anything of mine you want, honestly, just don't make me go looking for it as payment for my generosity.
  • And speaking of not putting stuff back when you should, what is the rationale behind putting away empty containers when you shouldn't? Isn't that what we invented the trash for? Or is storing empty cereal boxes and empty milk containers some new "save the planet" campaign?
  • Men who make fart jokes around women. Never funny; always vulgar. Do that when you are spitting and scratching among your male friends like silver-backed gorillas. When men act like gorillas among men, they are adorable. When men act like gorillas among women, they are foul. Context is everything.
  • Women who talk incessantly about themselves. There's a big wide world out there, kittens, and you're not the center of it. Copernicus settled that ages ago.
  • Gristle or slimy fat in my meat. If you want to see someone gag reflexively and spit her food into her napkin, just put a piece of meat in my sandwich or soup or stew that makes a noise or - worse! - slides around when I am trying to eat it.
  • Political correctness. Freedom means I am allowed to think whatever I like. The 1st Amendment gives me the right to SAY it. Your thin skin is of no concern to me. And don't worry. My skin is thick enough that if you don't like the rules, I don't care.
  • Hippies. Especially hippies who are leftists. If you're an honest hippie, you have to be a libertarian. Being a leftist hippie just means you are a bully as well as a loser.
  • Any recipe that is longer than two pages. If I have to turn the page, I'm not making it.
  • Vegetarians. Bunch of carrot-murdering lousy cooks. Go steam some rice or something.
  • Ill-behaved children and poorly trained animals. If it's a kid or a dog, it belongs to you. The rest of us don't want to put up with ANY OF IT. Not barking, not whining, not crying, not climbing on me as I'm seated, not jumping up on me with an enthusiasm that I do not share, not begging, not intruding, not listening. Trust me on this.
  • "Children should be seen and not heard" -- from a distance.
  • Women who try to turn their husbands/boyfriends/lovers into their bestest girlfriend. He doesn't want the job. Leave the poor dear alone to his football. In fact, get him a beer, and call your ACTUAL best friend on the phone. Everyone will be happier.
  • Snoring.
  • Men who think a few drinks make them better dancers. A few drinks make you FUNNIER dancers. Big difference.
  • Women who think a few drinks give them sudden and mystical powers of insight into every awful past relationship they ever had, and then proceed to share this stunning wisdom with you until they end up sobbing into the third or fourth drink past their limit.
  • Cigarette smoke. Ugh. Always. Even in my youth when I was known to smoke every once in a while.
  • People who think it is appropriate to get in touch with their inner asshole while commenting PUBLICLY on the internet.  Just like picking your nose while driving your car, we can all SEE YOU. You are not invisible. And it is just as disconcerting to run across someone losing it over a comment as it is to drive by someone scratching their brain through their nostril.

  • People whispering in a crowded room - unless they are lovers. Then by all means. The rest of us don't really need to be let in on that "secret." We can guess.
  • People who make everything a contest.
  • Bad service at expensive restaurants. If I'm at Denny's, I don't care if the waitress is slow, rushed or inattentive. I'm at Denny's. If I am at a place where I had to bring my last two income tax returns with me to get seated, I want the most elegant, solicitous yet restrained, attentive, intuitive service imaginable. Can't do that? Go get a job at Denny's.
That's it for now.

If anyone has anything to add, please feel free.

Sun poisoning in 3......2.......1.......

Stick a fork in her....she's done.

Sandra Fluke nominated for Time's Person of the Year

Well, kittens, with Obama now firmly stationed in the White House for his last four years, the REAL crazy can finally slip past the velvet ropes and show itself to all of America.

"But I don't HAVE $10.00, people!"
She became the face for the pro-abortion movement during the 2012 elections and the laughingstock of pro-lifers for her relentless push to force Americans to pay for her birth control. College student Sandra Fluke has been nominated as a potential Person of the Year by Time Magazine.

Fluke is apparently unable to figure out how to purchase low-cost birth control from places like Target, Wal-Mart or her local pharmacy. Still, Time magazine felt she was qualified enough to include her with legitimate newsmakers and leaders who are significantly more deserving of the award and recognition.

The End Times are nigh. December 21 can't get here soon enough.

At the bottom of the article is a place to VOTE NO on Sandra's candidacy for Person of the Year, and the heh heh! funny of the article catapults into HAHAHAHAHA!

Waging Christmas

With Thanksgiving leftovers finished up and all the turkey-shaped platters safely stowed, it is now time to wage Christmas. We have a neighborhood here that is completely INSANE about Christmas, with every house doing its damndest to outshine the next one. I am certain thousands of polar bears are gasping their last breaths somewhere because of the massive overuse of electricity in my town alone.

Fortunately we do not live in this neighborhood. Our home is in an area that is so secluded we can't see anyone - and they can't see us - from any direction, so the need to please others is nonexistent. But just between you and me, the need to please others would remain nonexistent if I were dead center in the Christmas Crazies' Neighborhood. Oh, I might feel compelled to do a little something....

Just to show I can get in the Christmas spirit, too.

But I would be far more likely to stage a poignant tableau. I call it, "Christmas Mourning."

Monday, November 26, 2012

While still grateful, I'm not any deeper.

Thanksgiving is barely over and I know I should now be enjoying a deeper sense of purpose and meaning to life. The gratitude for life's blessings that is the central expression in this most unique American holiday should have infused my life with a level of appreciation that would carry me above the mundane, the base and the vulgar.

But that didn't happen.

I still find this funny.

Thanks...giving...to all.

Many blessings, my friends. There is much to be grateful for in our lives.

The movie "Idiocracy" now proven SCIENCE!

Human intelligence 'peaked thousands of years ago and we've been on an intellectual and emotional decline ever since'

Or, as I like to paraphrase, stupid should hurt. A lot. As in die it hurts so much.

If ANY of the really smart guys who are always lecturing us on SCIENCE! are willing to stand their ground on evolution in the face of this information, then it makes perfect sense -- in fact, it is inarguable -- that the more advanced our societies become, and consequently the more stupid people we can carry -- the goddamn dumber we get as a whole.

Or you could just look at the electorate that voted for Dear Leader twice and have all proof you need.

It's not just the 2nd Amendment that is under attack.

Previously I posted a video of Laura Ingraham interviewing Dr. John Lott about our smartest president ever and his apparent TOTAL LACK of intellectual openness to the idea that the 2nd Amendment says what it says - and means it. Or, to be fair, that video was more of an indication that what the 2nd Amendment says did not matter one bit to someone, such as our Constitutional scholar and future president, who is obviously so much brighter than the old dead white guys who wrote it.

Now, it's the 1st Amendment they are after. Bill Whittle brings us a video detailing how our institutions of intense indoctrination higher learning are telling us to "sit down and shut up."

This open and unapologetic intolerance is perfectly understandable. When you have long since stopped questioning your assumptions, because, after all, all the really SMART people think just as you do, then why in the world would you give some dumb yokel, who spouts off about freedom and rights or anything with which you disagree, the time of day? Or an A, for that matter?

"...and he just kind of wrinkled his face and turned around and walked away."

Dr. John Lott, economist, academic and noted author of several books, including "Freedomonics" and "More Guns, Less Crime", relates a brief encounter with Dear Leader during their time together at the University of Chicago.

"I don't believe people should be able to own guns," announced our future Leader and Constitutional Scholar.

"Well, you know, maybe we can get together sometime, have lunch and talk about it," Dr. Lott suggested.

The intellectually curious and open-minded Obama didn't think so. So do you think the chances that Obama has changed his mind since then - now that he actually has promised to uphold the Constitution - are slim? Yeah...me, too.

Heh, here's an idea. How about the Secret Service not be allowed guns either? Fair's fair.

Hitting the fan.

Israel is on the brink of war, the world is on the brink of fiscal collapse, and now I won't have Twinkies to get me through, so I am on the brink of sanity.

What the HELL is going on with the world??

These really are the end times. I am completely convinced of it. Don't try to tell me different.

CANNIBALISM OR ZOMBIE APOCALPYSE...IT'S ON!

You can tell from the very first moment that Bill Whittle is not his usual upbeat self in this video. He begins not with his trademark, "Well, hi everybody, I'm Bill Whittle." Instead he seriously says, "Well, hello everyone, I'm Bill Whittle."

I know. It's subtle. But I pick up on the little things in life. Watch for yourself.

We are in the end game of this great experiment in freedom for the individual. How will it end? And, more importantly, which side will YOU be standing on when it does?

The takers? The makers? Or the watchers?

I know which side I'll be on.

Back to the madness

“It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything. --Joseph Stalin
Apparently this is still a truism. From The Blaze:

Odd? Romney Got ZERO Votes In 59 Precincts in Philly, and 9 Precincts in Ohio
But what if there are parts of the country where Romney not only got zero percent of the vote (a possibility in the case of vote totals so small that rounding renders them null), but actually got literally zero votes? For the nominee of a major party, that would be truly extraordinary – so extraordinary, in fact, that it would strain credulity.
And seeing as this highly unlikely turn of events happened not in one or two precincts, but in over 59 in Philadelphia, and 9 in Cleveland, that credulity can be safely said to be completely strained, if not broken.

Yee-yaaahhhh...Okay. I'll buy that.

Look, everyone has their free phones and their free healthcare and their free education and women across the country can now safely get laid on a Friday night because they are FREE of you Republicans' restrictive, intolerant, backwards morality.

That's real freedom, man.

It's all about me!

After long days of agonized, Tourette's-styled outbursts that startled the cat and made the dog wag his tail consolingly, I have decided to go back to the drawing board and reexamine the very nature of humans. For Obama to have won this election -- whether by hook or by crook -- says far more about us as a people than it does about Obama or Romney. I have often argued that the insanity of Nazi Germany was not in Hitler, though he incited it and rode the whirlwind. No, the insanity lay in the people - their right arms lifted in salute and their voices raised in adoration.

ALL HAIL OBAMA!

The deep impulse in the human being to surrender his will to the force of a charismatic leader has always been with us. We are naive, or perhaps arrogant, to believe that somehow Americans in the 21st century are suddenly immune, especially when one realizes that immunity, if such a thing exists, can only be gained through an inoculation of history. Man only becomes cognizant of his dangerous tendencies when he can view the results of succumbing to them through the lens of history. Man can not see the horror of what he desires in the immediacy of the here and now.

The study of history affords the possibility of wisdom for there is no wisdom in the present moment, only desire.

BRING THE REVOLUTION HOME. KILL YOUR PARENTS.

One of the most consistent tactics of the left is to sever the follower from the ties of his past. "Never trust anyone over thirty." "Kill your parents." Don't look back, the left demands, for the lessons of human nature are found there. "Forward, comrade!" is always the rallying cry. The left sees nothing of value in the past because it is determined to wipe out human nature and make a new man. The wisdom of the past, the lessons learned, mean nothing. All is new. All begins with them.

This is a very seductive idea because it immediately gives those who succumb to it a heady sense of importance and unearned grandeur. When one surrenders their will, they are left with only their ego. Suddenly they are all important. No need to be anything other than here, in this moment. All else falls away as unnecessary and superfluous to the glorious vision of what awaits. FORWARD!

Besides, history is a total downer....dude....It imposes restraint and demands subordination. Who wants to accept that one simply has a place in the tapestry of humankind, that others of great stature and accomplishments have gone before you? And most importantly, that you must deny your desires because of lessons old dead guys can teach you?

Screw that.

WE ARE THE ONES WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR.

Once the ties of history have been severed, the appeal to the ego is unrestrained. There is nothing else but one's immediate desires and sense of lofty self-importance.

It's all about me!

The charismatic leader appeals to this universal need to be important, to matter! It is so easy...so enticing. All one has to do to be transported from the smallness of one's life in the scheme of things to the heady heights of changing the world is to accept the absolution of one's sins and failures bestowed by the beloved leader, The One. All is made new. YOU are made new. There is no past. There is nothing outside the dream that he paints. LOOK FORWARD!

IF YOU VOTE FOR ME, ALL OF YOUR WILDEST DREAMS WILL COME TRUE.

The beloved leader doesn't just offer absolution and a place in history beginning with you. He offers the fulfillment of all your desires. Desires that were set free with the relinquishment of human history. Cell phones, gas in your car, your mortgage paid, free healthcare, free education, free birth control (for guys, you might still have to pay to get laid...sorry...we're talking dreams here, not crazy fantasies!) You can have it all.

How great must he be? How great must YOU be? To be special enough in all of the human race - in all of history - to see and understand the uniqueness of his vision? It is your privilege to march with him to reshape it all, to rewrite the human condition, to prove that history means nothing to the joyous vision of a promised tomorrow.

Because he promised. And you're that special.

DESTINY! DESTINY! NO ESCAPING! NOT FOR ME!

But eventually we all must wake from the dream for there is no escaping the very nature of our being. And when we do, we will realize that we created a nightmare in our attempts to deny reality. We are born human, with all our frailties, and we will die human, because of them.

As we willingly follow this new Pied Piper off the cliff, it is evident that we have learned nothing from history.

So be it.

I've been weeding like crazy since Tuesday.

I love the title of this little picture. Typos make me laugh.

While I may love the title, I ADORE the punch line. I've been having delicious fantasies while cleaning up the gardens for winter over the past few days. Killing two birds with one stone, if you will. And I do mean killing.

More history of the world

I don't do this for my health, kittens. I'm just really generous with all I know.

You're welcome.

A Confession

Theft is the way it has always been.

Man has not changed much since he stumbled out of the cave. His beliefs have changed, largely through an expansion of his knowledge, but his nature remains firmly unchanged. Static. We are still these primitive humans in "Quest for Fire", albeit with a better sense of fashion.

STEALING FIRE

At the beginning of this video, the commenter states that early man did not know how to MAKE fire, but could only steal it. This observation stood out for me. AH! This is the nature of man. This is his historical and political and social common denominator. Theft.

In the need for survival, in the quest for protection, man's first and most intractable impulse is to simply steal -- from nature or from others. All animals steal or kill to survive. As we became more "civilized", it was this primitive, animal impulse to steal that was recognized and around which our laws were developed, not just because this granted immense power to a few, but because these few, in turn, acted to control this impulse in society. Only they were allowed to steal. This insured order. In turn, they distributed enough of the loot to maintain order and continued cooperation. Or, of course, they killed those who didn't cooperate. The tribal leaders stole from the members of the tribe, the king stole from the serfs, or the Pope stole from the converts, wars were fought to steal from others. Finally, the modern state arose to steal from everyone.

MAKE IT OR TAKE IT

There are only two ways in which to experience prosperity and therefore insure survival through the security of accumulated wealth, be it a home, or stored food, or extra clothing. You can either make it or take it. Only man is capable of making wealth. But the idea of making wealth is relatively new in man's evolution, while the idea of taking it has been with us since the beginning. And taking it is so very much easier. It is also irreducibly simple. Everyone can understand it. Everyone can benefit from it immediately, if only to meet the smallest needs of gas in your car or a new phone.

The creation of wealth, by contrast, must first begin as an abstract idea for the wealth doesn't yet exist in physical reality. It requires mental discipline, knowledge, and often great effort. This is hard. And it does not happen for everyone.

Everyone can steal. Not everyone can create.

This is one of the greatest differences between the right and the left. The right understands and values the process of discovery and creation, the MAKING of wealth. The left is only interested in stealing it.

A RADICAL IDEA

Over two hundred years ago America said that if you make it, you get to keep it. Only in America did this radical idea take hold -- the idea that man should not be enslaved to the strong, dutifully offering up his life and efforts for the promise that power would protect him from the impulse to steal in others. This idea changed man's historical trajectory. Our Founding Fathers placed what had always been the privilege of power in the binding chains of the Constitution, written so that such power could only be applied EQUALLY to protect, not preferentially to enrich, freeing men from the constant threat of theft and releasing the economic engine of creation and discovery. At last! Political recognition that both your physical body and your mind  belonged to you, and therefore, no man, no matter his power or his "need" could take from you what you had created. This was truly a radical idea, and remains so to this day.

But on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, we rejected that radical idea to go back to the old ways of theft.

"YOU DIDN'T BUILD THAT"

At the heart of this telling phrase from our Beloved Leader is this idea that theft is still the most legitimate economic activity among men. "You didn't build that" perfectly reflects the idea that nothing belongs to you. That others with needs, or jealousies, or simply more power, can take it from you.

Whenever any society becomes more concerned with the transfer of wealth than with the creation of it, it is doomed to fall back to poverty, brutality, and the primitive impulse of the caveman.

Tuesday's election showed there is still the caveman in all of us - and a majority of us gave in to him.

This is what keeps going through my head

Just wondering...

Well, this is a little disturbing.

To all the Jews and Christians who either voted for Obama or chose to sit this out. Thanks. But I think you're going to find out that you won't be allowed to "sit this one out." Sorry. The storm is gathering and you not only can't hide, you can't even run anymore.

And Bronco Bama sitting down and performing the "miracle of the last diplomatic supper" between Israel and Iran is ludicrous on its face. He won't do squat, and even if he tried, he has as much chance of reconciling Iran to Israel's existence as he had in bringing the Olympics to Chicago. Good luck with that, champ.

WARNING: NSFW

These guys are liberals so they are BEYOND vulgar. They can barely talk for the almost reflexive need to insert M-F'ers every other word. Good LORD! We are so very very doomed in so many many ways. Get a load...

When it all hits the fan, I hope you idiots who thought Obama was up to the job have just one MOMENT, one FLASH of insight that you are absolutely, positively, irredeemably STUPID. I can't even think of a word to convey how incredibly stupid you people are. I just really, really hope it hurts.

A Facebook exchange.

I am not going to name names, but I stole this from a friend of mine on Facebook. He perfectly articulates the American experiment in limited government and the principles of economic freedom. If we could have found just ONE politician that could present it this well, we might have won the White House instead of sitting around rubbing our butts from the ass-kicking we just got.

A friend elsewhere stated:

"As a citizen of the People's Paradise of Europe, aka the EUSSR, I am so thrilled with this truly historic victory of Provider Obamarx II of the United States of Eumerica. It took you guys 250 years--and I don't mind admitting that many times we Europeans despaired of you and your "old stale ideas", but finally you are getting your act together. Bravo. But …. FORWARD is the way!!! Now, let us all work together towards the establishment of ONE global United Nation!, one single family of comrade-citizens forever living happily together on the face of dear old Mama Gaia. A goal more noble there is not."

My friend's reply:

How come you don’t opinionate more often? That’s good stuff. That's how I feel.

Although I despise the socialist nanny EU, Europe is the cradle of American civilization. Yes, we adopted a few of our own ideas. But “our” ideas were also your ideas to a great extent. We took the best the Dutch had to offer, the best of the Scots, the best of the British — and I think even a Frenchman had a good idea or two — (and the Germans brought the beer) and we made a country founded upon the principle that all men were created equal, that the point of government was to secure our rights, and that the land would be devoted to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

The proper American outlook is not particularly ideological, other than the ideology that life should be lived at the level of the citizen and that the purpose of government was to secure our ability to do so (and that therefore government, by necessity, be limited in function and size). Government was not to be a surrogate church, Cathedral, or Big Brother.

The business of America, as they say, is business. What that means is that Americans don’t typically get caught up in Hatfields and McCoys type of Hundred Years Wars because we don’t exist to be a Master Race, to preserve the bloodlines of a King, or to forward any particular tribe.

This idea has been undermined, of course, by decades of identity politics from the Left. But being an ideological zealot is definitely not the business of America. The business of America is making a living and being able to improve your lot. And I think we got this trait in large part from the Dutch. And it is not at all an immoral trait. Nothing is more moral than a person (short of stealing) taking care of himself and his family through hard work, industry, and producing some product or service that is of use to other people.

The opposite is where we are heading now where we have more moochers than producers, where those who work hard and actually create something are demonized while the deadbeats are honored as “victims.”

Just checking...

Yup.

Voter turnout way down because yesterday was just a ho-hum day to Republicans across the country

After waiting for four years to rid ourselves of the biggest asshole in US history, the voters decided yesterday that it was inconvenient.

“Beyond the people with passion, we have a disengaged electorate,” Gans said. “This was a very tight race, there were serious things to be decided.” (emphasis mine)
"...a disengaged electorate." I don't fucking think so. But you can float that balloon so the sheep have something pretty to stare at.

“Everyone was talking about how the Democrats are unenthusiastic and the Republicans are fired up,” Kondik said. “It sounds like that was all talk.”

 We are being lied to.

And we will take it lying down, thank you.

I no longer recognize my country

We are no longer a nation of free people.

And we chose not to be free.

So be it.  I hope that our fellow citizens wear their chains lightly.

I love Ayn Rand

Did I ever confess here that I am a HUGE fan of Ayn Rand? Well, if not, here's my confession. She was one of the most lucid and insightful minds in the philosophical realm. Like Thomas Sowell, she always seemed capable of reducing an apparently complex situation to its basic elements, and therefore, to its truths.

"If a businessman makes a mistake, he suffers the consequences. If a bureaucrat makes a mistake, you suffer the consequences." - Ayn Rand.

Damned straight.

If you've never read her non-fiction works, do it! Do it NOW!

"Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal"

"Philosophy: Who Needs It?"

Both exceptional books. And they are both on Kindle for under $10.00 each. No excuses.

To the Principled Third Party Voter

"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent." Thomas Jefferson

If you vote for a candidate that has no chance of winning, you are choosing to REMAIN SILENT.

Crystal Ball Stuff

Stole this from Frank J. and IMAO.
So what happens after the election? Well, if Mitt Romney is elected, then Obama will have effectively been fired. He’ll be given two weeks notice and told to pack up his stuff. If he dawdles at all, he’ll be tasered and dragged from the premises. And with Michelle Obama gone, candy dishes will once again be put out in the various rooms of the White House and the place will become flooded with fat kids. And then Romney will move in and they’ll teach him how to input his kill list into the predator drones. And then business will start creating jobs as they were waiting for Obama to leave as they didn’t want him to take credit.
If Obama is reelected, though, he’ll declare himself to be the first president ever reelected and thus the greatest president ever. The media won’t fact check him on this. Then he’ll celebrate by eating Bo as there is nothing anyone can do about him now.
 Read the rest. Good stuff.

Let me add my two cents worth.

If Romney is elected I will have to bind up my lady parts because no one is going to pay me for using them anymore. Black people will have to get used to being slaves again, and Grandma better not let that nice young Mr. Ryan push her wheelchair anywhere. We will all choke to death on toxic air and, as we simply keel over and die in the streets, no one will do anything but step over our pathetic bodies. Even if someone drags us to a hospital, they won't do anything because Republicans like watching people die. They might pray for us, though.

If Obama wins we will have unpolluted air because no one will have cars, and the few who do won't have any gas, but if anyone DOES have gas, it will be from clean ethanol so that polar bears can live, which is a good thing because ethanol is made from food, so people will die. If Obama wins, we will be safe from terrorism unless we, personally, become that "bump in the road", and the ocean will finally recede (after it gets through pummeling the East Coast).  If Obama wins I will finally lose those pesky five pounds that have been bothering me because I won't be allowed to binge on Flaming Hot Cheetos.

And we will FINALLY be a nation that is PROVEN not to be racist because we will have elected the most incompetent, divisive, anti-American asshole ever to hold office - AGAIN. Now THAT is affirmative action IN action right there, kittens.

And I don't care whether you think that's code or not.

Today is the day.

"No matter what the stats may say, and the experts may think, and the commentators may have predicted, when the race is on, all bets are off. Don't be surprised if somebody decides to flip the script and take a pass on yelling, "Uncle!" And then suddenly, as the old saying goes, "We got ourselves a game!"

The race is on, kittens. Let's win this thing.

This Goes Double For Me

If even ONE reader of mine does not also read Rachel Lucas, you MUST pop over and see this post. It is superbly appropriate for the interminable waiting we all are feeling as we hunker down in our bunkers, ammo dry, waiting...waiting...waiting...not JUST for tomorrow, but for the results tomorrow night. Perhaps it is particularly pertinent to me as I am dieting away a pesky five pounds right now, which is one of those numbers that translates more often than not into "who gives a sh*t?" resulting in never getting through it entirely. Normally, just a couple of pounds off and I'm ON THAT PLATE!

HAHAHAHA!

But not this time.

This time it's for the win.

President Romney AND a size four. Then I'm gonna be like Dragon Baby, baaaaby!

That duck is next....

The Sixth of November

I wish I knew who wrote this.

The Sixth of November

Remember, remember, this sixth of November,
The radicals’ treasonous plot.
I know of no reason the radicals’ treason
Should e’er be forgiv’n or forgot.

The Sixties were waning, and Leftists were claiming
That radical changes were due.
Their Marxist solution was armed revolution:
The Weathermen made their debut.

The radicals raged on the national stage, and
Horrific explosions ensued.
Their bombs were dramatic, but also erratic;
They sometimes killed radicals, too.

The Leftists grew older, the underground, colder,
And so they came in from the cold.
“Subvert from within – in the long run, we’ll win,” said
The Leftists, determined and bold.

And thus it began – this nefarious plan – and
The radicals slowly took charge:
Complete infiltration of all education;
The long institutional march.

The journalist schools would produce useful fools, for
The Left would need media shills.
And Hollywood, too, would assist in the coup, with
Its slick propagandizing skills.

“Community action” would build a new faction;
’Twould organize proles on the street.
A smooth politician would front for the mission,
And run for the president’s seat.

The radicals’ goal, which they proudly extol, is
A communist U.S. of A.
Collectivist schemes lead to brutal regimes, and
For this do the radicals pray.

But Jefferson’s aim, with the charters he framed, was
To guard individual rights.
And “redistribution” was not a solution,
But one of the evils to fight.

So let us remember, this sixth of November,
Just what is at stake on this date.
Will Jefferson’s dream, or the radicals’ scheme, now
Determine America’s fate

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

I'll be snacking on cold smoked salmon and chilled champagne while watching Obama get his entire entourage handed to him as he is notified tomorrow that he must vacate 1600 Pennsylvania.

Lovely. AND delicious.

Jim Treacher gives us a list of reasons why some of us (MANY of us) might want to exact a little sweet revenge through our right to vote.

I’ll have to differ with the next President of the United States. Voting really is the best revenge:
  • It’s revenge for being told you’re unpatriotic for wanting to keep the money you’ve earned.
  • It’s revenge for being falsely accused of screaming racial epithets at Congressmen, and then being called a racist for demanding proof that never comes because it doesn’t exist.
  • It’s revenge for a massive stimulus that massively failed to stimulate anything but the bank accounts of Obama’s cronies at our expense, and for shovel-ready jobs that were “not as shovel-ready as we expected.”
  • It’s revenge for putting up with a corrupt media that has abdicated its responsibilities in order to flack for the Democrats, even as the leader of the Democratic Party snubs them in favor of Letterman, The View, and “the Pimp with a Limp.”
  • It’s revenge for the years-long smear campaign against Sarah Palin and her family.
  • It’s revenge for having to hear about Big Bird, binders, bayonets, Bain, Seamus the dog, magic underpants, Sandra Fluke’s sex life, and all the other distractions Obama’s supporters have had to resort to, because they can’t exactly talk about his record.
  • It’s revenge for being lied to every single day, on every single issue, and then being maligned and lied about and called a racist for daring to notice.
  • It’s revenge for Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods, and Glen Doherty, whose lives were sacrificed by their own government on the anniversary of 9/11, and whose murders were falsely blamed on the First Amendment because otherwise somebody might forget that Obama eventually gave the order to kill Bin Laden.
  • It’s revenge for having to listen to the 44th President of the United States blame all his failures on anyone and everyone but himself.
  • It’s revenge for “You didn’t build that.”
  • It’s revenge for Obamacare.
  • It’s revenge for “I won.”

Here are some additional reasons:

  • It's revenge for snubbing our oldest ally, Britain, and our best ally in the Middle East, Israel.
  • It's revenge for denying God and Israel three times at the DNC.
  • It's revenge for being asked to vote with my lady parts, instead of my brain.
  • It's revenge for Border Agent Brian Terry, and the hundreds of Mexican citizens killed in Fast and Furious.
  • It's revenge for four years of crushing unemployment.
  • It's revenge for forcing more Americans on to food stamps than any other president in history.
  • It's revenge for my children who will pay the price for his insane spending.
  • It's revenge for the disastrous Arab Spring.
  • It's revenge for simply watching the protesting Iranians being butchered in a "lively debate".
  • It's revenge for our president telling the world at the UN that our First Amendment is no longer pertinent and that the future must not belong to those who slander Islam.

I'm keeping my First Amendments rights -- ALL of them, thank you, Mr. President. So f*&k Islam. The future is NOW.

I'm sure every single person out there can think of more. It's been a real carnival ride with this clown.

Taking a Bath

There is so much that smells about BO, let's make sure he takes a bath tomorrow.

Commander-In-Chief

If there is one duty that we all recognize belongs to the POTUS, it is to be the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces. The President is the guy who makes the gutsy call, like Benghazi. Or not.

Freedom or Fairness - UPDATED! I'VE BEEN LINKED AT IMAO!

Joe Dan Gorman has been composing, singing, writing and producing great stuff for years. He now has another website, Intellectual Froglegs, where he posts pithy, pertinent, and priceless videos.

Here is his latest one:

Freedom or fairness. That is what is all comes down to, kittens. This distinction is one of the most telling differences between the liberal view of "good" and the conservative view of "good".

These two ideas are, inevitably, mutually exclusive. Freedom creates unfairness; fairness can only be achieved by destroying freedom.

To the liberal, outcome or results are the most important things in determining whether a society is good or not. Their entire sense of morality is measured on external, material circumstances. To the liberal mind, all people should have "things." What those things are depends on the moment in history and the promises made by the men in power. To Lenin the things were bread and peace, to Hitler they were healthcare and education. Liberals waste no intellectual contemplation of the interior environment of a man, his dreams, aspirations, beliefs, motives, desires; they are too busy redistributing things. If anything, the individual dreams of men alarm and frustrate the left because they can not control them. They CAN control the distribution of things. But you need power to control things.

The left loves power. Everything they believe in can only be achieved through the exercise of political power. Everything. All of it. Because what they want doesn't exist and will never exist. So you must use power to FORCE it into existence. It reminds me of the old expression, "If it doesn't fit, get a bigger hammer."

The left is always reaching for a bigger hammer.

In contrast, the right values freedom, not social or economic "fairness."  We understand that fairness of outcome does not and can not exist among free men. We understand that the only fairness that can morally be expressed by a free society is the fairness of the just use of power. When power (justice) is "blind" and all men can expect the same treatment in the application of power within society, where power is used only to prevent injurious behavior, then men are free. When power instead becomes a tool to create "fairness", then all men are slaves, chained to the demands of others. Whether you are a slave to one master, or a slave to many, you are still a slave.

This difference between the left and the right is fundamental and irreconcilable. It springs from different moral imperatives, different values. While the left values fairness which requires the expansion of power, the right values freedom which requires the restraint of power.

We will never get along.

Here is another one of my favorite Joe Dan videos from a couple of years ago which highlights Joe Dan's composing and singing talent. Get to know him. He's good.

I will never get used to being recognized by the blogs I've been reading for years. I am such an attention whore. Someone needs to shove me back into my seat.

A rose by any other name.....

While it might smell as sweet, the pronunciation can get you into trouble.

May the best horse win.

Today was the Breeders Cup Classic, the richest horse race in Thoroughbred racing.

At 5:45 or so, the camera focuses on the horse's trainer, Ian Wilkes. Beside him is a woman, probably his wife, who so reminds me of myself. Not in looks, but in behavior. I would be just like that if my horse were winning -- arms pumping, screaming, clapping, jumping up and down. Yeah!

If your heart is racing, your breathing is ragged, you're screaming, "Oh, God!" over and over, and the whole thing only lasts around 2 minutes...it's probably a horse race.

It's Going To Feel Like Halloween Until November 6

Have you ever had one of those dreams where it is life or death that you escape something -- you must run -- you must scream -- fight -- anything! -- yet you find yourself struggling impotently through black, cosmic goo, all your efforts to move faster than a sluggish, fatal, doomed pace to no avail, silent despite all attempts to scream for help, knowing the "bad thing" is bearing down on you with ferocious speed?

That's how I feel now with the presidential election rushing down on us, days away, and I attempt to discuss its importance with people who STILL THINK IT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER! Or even worse, with those who believe it matters SOOOOO MUCH that they are determined to vote for Ron Paul or Gary Johnson.

WTF is WRONG with such people?

Seriously. My mouth opens to scream at them, and nothing comes out. My hands struggle to rise to their throat, yet remain glued to my lap.

That's right, kitten. So make Mommy happy and vote for
Romney or you'll never see 18. I've got
your absentee ballot right here.
Am I being too dramatic? Perhaps. I have just given myself another TCA peel and have simultaneously decided to lose a nasty five pounds that have been hanging around uninvited for far too long, so my overall attitude is tending toward murderous/suicidal, but STILL!

Over at Rachel's blog, she deftly skewers the idea that the Obama administration should be allowed their little "bump in the road" concerning Benghazi. Especially with the election and all. We'd HATE to politicize the deaths of brave Americans. No one wants to know what happened that night more than our Beloved Leader, he's assured us, and he'll get right to the bottom of it after he wins re-election. This appears to be another "You have to pass it to find out what's in it" moment.

No, I don't. That crap sandwich stinks from here. It's had seven long weeks to "ripen." It's not hard to guess what's in it, thank you.

Here's my take on Benghazi. President Obama knowingly, deliberately, POLITICALLY watched those men die. Why? Their lives were not worth his re-election. He murdered them as surely as if he had pulled the trigger because he and he alone had the power to help and he just sat there - and watched. Facts coming out even suggest he actively REFUSED the help he could have provided.

That doesn't just make him culpable. It makes him responsible. With malice. And intent. To refuse help to those men in the face of an organized, sustained and highly militarized attack was to deliberately leave them to die. They were not going to get out of there without help. He knew that. He chose to let them die.

THAT. IS. MURDER.

And with a level of cold-blooded self-interest that is chilling in its implications.

If you intend to vote for anyone else besides Romney -- who EVERYONE KNOWS is the only candidate who stands a chance of removing Obama from office -- then you must acknowledge that you are okay with a man of such soulless, lustful greed for power winning re-election.

This is not the time to throw your hands up in the air or to insist that your principles will not be compromised. This is war. And war is almost always a game of tradeoffs and compromises. The question must always be, "What decision can I make -- right now -- that will keep me alive to fight tomorrow?"

Voting for Romney is the only one. Any other vote is a vote to die -- if only metaphorically -- like those poor men who Obama killed because they were politically inconvenient.

Over at PJMedia, Zombie dials in on these last four years and if you can read it and STILL think this election is just like any other or that you MUST remain committed to vote for someone other than Romney who cannot win and therefore will INSURE that your dearest principles will be destroyed forever, I do not understand you. At all.

Why Was There No October Surprise? Because Every Freakin’ Day for the Last Four Years Has Been an October Surprise

Read it. Then vote to win.

To Be or Not To Be

The election of the president of the United States nears and it is not too melodramatic to say the fate of the world hangs in the balance. Only two men realistically have a chance at winning this election, though a number of others are running.

Will it be Romney...or Obama?

The following video by Bill Whittle is one of his best as he tackles the question with clear-eyed, pragmatic reasoning. He focuses not on the Obama voter, who can not be persuaded, nor on the undecided voter, who frankly has made up his mind but is unwilling to say. No, he focuses on the principled voter who has decided to vote third party. His argument is particularly salient to me as I was "one of the those" until the 2004 election of George Bush. Until that presidential election, I had always voted Libertarian. Straight ticket. Period.

So perhaps, because of my history, I have a few additional insights.

I voted third party for many reasons, and none of them were really  -  or solely - about principle. Oh, principle was the "cover", the offered reason, the grounds for my stubborn commitment. But it was not truly about principle. It was about the refusal to become engaged. To participate. To get dirt on my hands.

And it was about apathy. The belief, not just that my vote didn't matter, but that the entire process didn't matter. That even if an R or D candidate won, nothing would change.

I voted Libertarian because it allowed me the moral arrogance of being "above the fray." It also allowed me to feel as if I was voting from an intelligent, principled stance without having to know a single thing about the election, the issues, or the candidates. They were both wrong, so why pay attention? By refusing to vote for either party - both of which support some aspect of the Establishment - I enjoyed a double scoop of chocolate/cherry ice cream. I got to feel smug while dressing my ignorance in party clothes.

Yeah, me! I was so freaking cool while all the numbnuts ran around voting for R's and D's and getting the same crap sandwich no matter who won.

And, secretly, I never had to address my fatalistic apathy about politics, my sense of helplessness in the face of the power structure of Washington and the Establishment. And my unwillingness to do anything about it. That wasn't pleasant. So much better to feel superior than insignificant.

Even when I voted for George Bush in 2004, I knew I was participating in a sham. It made me angry to realize that I truly did not have a voice, that the political machine in Washington had long since begun running under its own steam and didn't need my approval or disapproval as gas for the engine. The process of elections was to give people the appearance of control and participation, while in reality it was simply a ceremony every four years that essentially amounted to, "The King is dead. Long live the King!"

It wasn't until the rise of the Tea Party and the opportunity it offered for genuine citizen activism that I began to believe differently. Finally, the people were raising their voices. Finally, we had a pathway, a focus, a stated goal. Finally, we had a chance.

And that's all -- and everything -- Romney is.

A chance.

Voting for anyone else is throwing away that chance. We may never have another.

I'm going to take it.

So if you are still determined to vote third party, let me offer one more plea. Just this once, just this election, vote for Romney. I'll never ask again, because if Romney doesn't do what he has promised, then I will help to form a third party and will stand with you, though it may be too late for any party other than the Democrats, to ever regain power in this country. Think of that. Your principled vote could doom this country to a future that you DO. NOT. WANT.

A vote for Romney gives us a fighting chance.

If you take that chance and vote for Romney - JUST. THIS. ONCE. - I (and I know Bill) promise to do everything in our power to hold him to his promise to PUSH BACK against the last century of incremental progressive gains.

That is all we have. There is no third party vote that can change any of that now - at this moment.

The certainty of Obama.

Or a chance with Romney.

To be or not to be.

That is the question.

A Drunk Kermit Channels Mr. Rogers

Can you spell hy-po-crite? See, I knew you could.

Yes. Go there. Beeeeeeee shameless.

I love how this video zeroes in on Democrats being the hypocrites because that used to be the worst thing Democrats could think of to throw at Republicans before Obama expanded their repertoire of accusations to include haters, clingers, and evil greedy 1%ers who make war on all the women they haven't put in binders yet or pushed over cliffs, and who never EVER hug their garbage men.

Maple Pecan Tart

I hate to take any pleasure in the grand storm that has blown into the California foothills, soaking the earth and demanding a fire in the fireplace, when there is so much devastation on the East Coast from Sandy, but we desperately need the rain and it is hard not to give thanks for the steady downpour.

The change of seasons is the most cyclical rhythm in life. The undulation of birth, growth, harvest and slumber guides our actions, sets our rituals, marks our life events. For me, the seasons are expressed in my kitchen. Virtually everything I cook relates to the time of year.

When the cold sets in and Thanksgiving is just around the corner, this Maple Pecan Tart is simply one of the best things you can prepare. For those of you who, like me, adore pecans, but can't stand the icky sweetness of classic pecan pie with all that corn syrup, this tart is amazing.  Some years ago I had dinner at a restaurant that served a similar tart and was bowled over. I liked it so much that I went back the next day for lunch and ordered it again. Begging and pleading with the chef for the recipe was unsuccessful (though he gave me a slot in his upcoming cooking class where we prepared lobster risotto...and I DID get that recipe!), so I went home and after a number of attempts, came up with this. It's pretty damn close to the perfection of that tart...AND it's easy. Always a plus!

MAPLE PECAN TART

2/3 cup pure maple syrup (if you can find the grade B, often sold in health food stores, it has more flavor)
1/2 cup (packed) golden brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 T. butter, melted
1 T. flour
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 pie crust in a 9-inch tart pan
6 oz (1 1/2 cups) coarsely chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Whisk together first 7 ingredients in medium bowl to blend.  Place unbaked crust in tart pan on baking sheet.  Spread nuts over crust.  Pour filling over.  Bake until filling is set and slightly puffed, about 45 minutes.  Transfer to rack and cool for ten minutes. Then remove outer ring from tart pan and place on serving plate. Serve with ice cream...or whipped cream...or just serve it plain.

Yummy!
