HOWLING! Exactly. No one ever loses an argument with a liberal. As soon as they start sputtering, calling names, or (and this is one I get alot) airily dismissing the whole thing with, "I really don't know that much about politics. I just feel we should take care of each other" or some bullcrap like that, which, when you think about it, is the most amazing answer. To believe yourself better, wiser, or just plain nicer because you are UNINFORMED is truly awesome.
HAHA gcotharn, that is brilliant, and perfectly true.
Do any of you ever listen to Dana Loesch's radio show or podcasts? It destroys me because every time she's mocking some false claim of racism, they play a voice saying "RAY!cist" in the background and it cracks my ass up all over the place every time.
No. I've never heard her podcasts. I know of her and have read her writing (she's good!)...and she's a twitter "friend" though I twitter about once every year, because I just don't "get" Twitter. It strikes me as the epitome of the LOOK AT ME --- NOW!---NOW!!---NOW!!! quality of the internet. First there was blogging, then MySpace, then Facebook and now Twitter, where fame is reduced to 140 keystrokes and how many followers you have. WTF? I have actually seen people there dismiss an argument on the basis of how many followers someone else has. As if that was a determinate factor in whether their point was salient. I do not fucking get it.
Twitter is for very very clever people like David Burge or Jim Treacher, or for people who are actually on the inside and scooping the story. Leaves me out.
This cartoon reminded me of this bit from Louis CK:

I laugh every time I hear this. I even stripped it and burned an audio cd of this so I could listen to it in the car. This and the one where he talks about the difference between little girls and little boys.
Hey, if either of you already clicked on the long video of the girls vs boys link...I POSTED THE WRONG ONE! OMG! I never listened to the longer one before...didn't even know about it. Always watched the shorter one which I have NOW changed the link to...because WOW! Louis can be vulgar, but that was way too much.
I have to admit: I like vulgar. I am embarrassed at how much I like it: my own immaturity on display. I don't always like Louis CK, but I like vulgar. :)
I have to take him in small doses, and then only some of his routines. He's great when he's talking about kids. Not so great when he gets political, though. But his take on racism is hilarious, to me. And he is right, we have enjoyed a position throughout history that will make "settling up" kinda painful. "They're not going to let us just fall from 1 to 2." True that.

ReplyDeleteI don't always get called a racist.
But, when I do, I have just won an argument with a liberal.
Have you ever lost?

DeleteAwesome or not...I win.
Also, a quip at NRO:
ReplyDelete"NO ONE ever expects ... the chicken inquisition!"
Love LOVE LOVE!!! Monty Python. That comment is SUPERB! I am STILL giggling. I'm going to remember that one for life.
