There's a reason presidents only serve four years in a term.

To avoid the possibility of a "five-year plan."

Good Lord.

The basic difference between liberals who support a managed economy and conservatives who support the dynamism of the free market is that liberals believe that just a few men are smart enough to make decisions for the rest of us, men who we all know lied their way into power. To the liberal, everyone else is too stupid to be allowed the freedom to make choices that will affect all of us, because who elected them? The conservative knows that lying your way into power doesn't make you a genius. It makes you a liar. While we also know that everyone in the marketplace isn't a genius and many are liars, we're willing to let the chips fall where they may, knowing that the best answer to any particular problem will be found through the ingenuity and creativity of men seeking solutions that directly benefit them. Because in the freedom of the marketplace no idea can be forced on another. All men must choose to participate. This element of choice in every decision insures a more equitable distribution of power. The government removes choice because it has all the power.

Liberals flatter themselves that they can elect men and women to not only speak for them but to know for them, to anticipate and protect and respond for them in order to create a perfect world. Like a best friend. Only with ultimate power.

Conservatives don't buy any of that shit.

  1. Hey everyone! Meet my best friend Julian. Julian has just taken ultimate power. Julian, this is my gun and here is your bullet.

Why is the 2nd amendment so hard for people to understand? Protecting oneself from another individual is just a bonus. The power of the 2nd amendment is aimed squarely at Gov't.

  2. This is why I love you Buttercup: "Conservatives don't buy any of that shit." BAM.

Sums it all up in 7 words.

Also: I LOVE that Penn&Teller clip.

  3. "To the liberal, everyone else is too stupid to be allowed the freedom to make choices that will affect..." only themselves. You see, some folks make REALLY stupid choices, so no one should be able to make choices. The reason for this is two fold. One, it will eliminate the bad choices the idiots make, and two, when someone makes a stupid choice and they see people around them making intelligent choices, well, it damages their self esteem, and we just can't have that. So, we have government make our choices for us, and when they make stupid choices, then they can blame it on Bush, or ATMs, or tsunamis, or bitter clingers, or teh Joooos, but no one individual has to recognise that they made a stupid choice, because they no longer have to choose.

    1. So what libs are saying is: You don't get the ultimate cosmic power or even free will, all you get is the teeny weeny living space? Now the Aladdin movie makes sense!

    2. And the irony is that people who are too stupid to make their own decision in their life are smart enough to elect OTHERS to make all the decision for them.

      Right. I get it.

    3. If you are almost too stupid to live, it does make a certain amount of sense to vote for the person who promises to give the padded room. For free even, if you promise not to work or otherwise endanger yourself.

    4. When you put it that way, it does make a certain kind of twisted sense.

      Now I'm really worried.
