While still grateful, I'm not any deeper.

Thanksgiving is barely over and I know I should now be enjoying a deeper sense of purpose and meaning to life. The gratitude for life's blessings that is the central expression in this most unique American holiday should have infused my life with a level of appreciation that would carry me above the mundane, the base and the vulgar.

But that didn't happen.

I still find this funny.

Thank goodness. You're more fun this way. :)

    1. hahahaha--HA!

Did you have a Happy Thanksgiving with more turkey and carbohydrates than you've eaten in the last year?

We did. Add in too much wine, a little gambling, and a good time was had by all.

    2. Wow...I hit a nerve over on Rachel's thread about foot binding.

Who knew men could get so pissed off by history and the basic understanding that men have been in charge of it since....like.....the fucking beginning!

    3. Yes indeed, now I'm all warmed up for the candy & cookies leading up to Christmas dinner.

Assuming Marcus Aurelius doesn't interfere. You read a quote, one thing leads to another, and before you know it ... philosophy.

You're a nerve seeking missile. :) Similar reaction the other day with your comment about the greatest/boomer generations and Social Security. Except there was only the one disputant and neither of you came back to continue it.

I'm interested to see if they've got a counter argument to your last comments. Damned if I can think of one, though somebody with more knowledge of history and anthropology might be able to. This is one of those cases where I don't feel any need to defend the group just because I'm a member of it. So I'm more interested in whether good arguments are put forward than who "wins".

    6. They are mostly commenters I don't recognize so they obviously don't "get" me. Whatever. I just find it amusing they are responding to historical facts as things THEY are insulted by. What I'm saying is NOT personal. It's historical.

Normally I would try to appease everyone and back off by joking, but these guys are getting upset over nothing but the truth. Sorry, but I'm not going to back off that.

And it's very interesting that the other women completely understand what I'm saying.

  2. HA! First of all, I love the Shit Tyrone pic. I Lol'ed.

Second, I haven't even been over to my blog yet this morning to read that thread. Got too distracted by other shit all over the internet. This is one annoying thing about the huge time zone difference - I post in the evening and see maybe the first 10 or so comments, then when the bulk of Americans are commenting in the evening over THERE, I'm not on at all, so I wake up in the morning here to tons of new comments, but now all of you are in bed becuase it's the middle of the night. Ha! Makes it hard for me to get in on discussions in real-time.

Anyway - I'm heading over to my own blog now to see what's happening. I will smash anyone who has insulted you or been an asshole to you. Smash!

Exactly! I'm in West Australia, and the 12 to 15 hour difference pisses me off no end when I see a discussion I'd love to get into in real time.

    1. On the other hand, the whole thing allows us to talk at all despite the time difference. I am still being grateful. HAHAHAHAHA!
