Smartz...I haz it.

Found this interview over at the wonderful blog by David Thompson, and I am dropping it here because I love Thomas Sowell, and because I WAS RIGHT! Or, to be precise, Mr. Sowell agrees with me. And that's even better than being right, because it also means I'm smart! Damn, I'm good.

The entire interview is worth listening to (not just the part where he agrees with me) for his theories on the intersection of wealth creation, geography and isolation. Basically, to sum it up, if you happen to get stuck in a shithole part of the world, like the Eskimos or the Aborigines, you will stay poor, backwards, and stupid. People need to interact to create wealth and to progress culturally.

Good stuff.

I would also interject into his thesis that FREEDOM is absolutely required for the creation of wealth because it ALLOWS people to interact on their own terms. You can't force creative interaction. You can only inhibit it.

Just my two cents, but seeing as how Mr. Sowell and I are BFFs now because we agree on "The Donald," I thought he wouldn't mind if I critiqued him a little...HAHAHA!

Prisencolinensinainciusol

And no, I have no idea what that word means either. Actually, even after watching the video a number of times, I have no idea what any of it means. There's a Weird Al Yankovich morphing into Harpo Marx who has found his voice, Cher with a cameo for a split second, then Deborah Harry takes over...and the whole thing is pounding with a silly rock beat that drives home the unassailable truth that rock and roll is a British/American invention and everyone else should just leave it the hell alone!

Trust me. You just have to watch it.

OLL RAIGTH!

Sex and the Single Kindergartener

Beloved Dear Leader has proclaimed that children as young as four now need to learn all about the birds and the bees. "It's the right thing to do," he has assured us.

Chicago public schools will start sex education in kindergarten

The dismally low graduation rate for students who attend Chicago Public Schools is barely over 60 percent – substantially lower than the national rate of roughly 75 percent. Nevertheless, citizens of the Second City will surely take heart, because the Chicago Board of Education just passed a new policy that requires sex education to begin in kindergarten.
Why not? If they are already bored by Dick and Jane, let's get them interested in Dick dicking Jane. That'll keep'em in school.
The new policy, which was passed on Wednesday, according to ABC News, is part of a broader makeover of the school district’s sexual health program,

Sometime within the next two years, students in every grade, including kindergarten, will be required to spend a certain amount of time on the birds and the bees.

Mandated sex-ed for Chicago kindergartners will include instruction about male and female anatomy and reproduction. It’s not clear exactly how much detail five- and six-year-olds will be taught concerning the more sophisticated uses of their genitals.
This seems perfectly in line with Obamacare. Now that healthcare is run by the government -- and government is always a monopoly -- we don't want little Johnny and Susie playing doctor anymore.

Besides, Obama and Kevin Jennings and all the rest of the perverts are waaaaaaay behind on this one. South Park has already had fun with this.

Common Coarseness of Common Core

In our enlightened age of collectivist wisdom, "common" has come to mean something wonderful, utopian, almost mystical -- something shared by all in the brotherhood of true equality -- instead of something base, crass, coarse and vulgar, which is mostly what I remember it meaning as a child.

There was a time when no one wanted to be "common".  Of course this aversion did not hold true when you added the word "sense" to it. "Sense" turned the vulgarity of "common" into the plain-spoken wisdom of the average man, a trait valued in America. But this is often the case with language. There are nuances.

Nuances can be important. As conservatives, though, we are rarely, if ever, fully aware of them. We aren't able to grasp the subtleties, the refined elegance so often conveyed in the nuance. This makes us want to smash things. Or read comic books where heroes in costumes smash things.

So it isn't surprising at all that there has been an uproar by stupid conservatives over the discovery that one of the books listed among the Common Core exemplar texts for 11th grade is Toni Morrison's, "The Bluest Eye." (WARNING!!!! Link contains graphic sexual content -- but also a VERY good article.) We, of course, missed the nuances.

If you read "The Bluest Eye" you might think it is about dysfunctional families and individuals who express their self-hatred, lack of morals, and purposeless lives through anger, fighting, alcoholism, sexual deviancy, incest, child molestation, rape, pedophilia and predation. But you would be wrong. You would have missed the nuances. It is about racism. It is about how racism shapes everything in a black person's world so that they are hapless victims utterly destroyed by whitey. Even the most degenerate of behaviors are only the result of this emotional destruction.

You see, everything that the characters do to each other in this novel stems from the fact that they are black in a white world. They are all victims. Society is the culprit, the rapist, the abuser, not them. White society, to be precise. So the reader is encouraged through Ms. Morrison's direction to see themselves as the rapist, the abuser, the pedophile, to sympathize.
Obviously the reason behind some parents calls for removing the book are the graphic depictions of incest, rape and pedophilia. And not just that, the book actually lets the reader see the depictions from the perpetrators point of view.
In fact, the author of the book, Morrison, says that she wanted the reader to feel as though they are a “co-conspirator” with the rapist. She took pains to make sure she never portrayed the actions as wrong in order to show how everyone has their own problems. She even goes as far as to describe the pedophilia, rape and incest “friendly,” “innocent,” and “tender.” It’s no wonder that this book is in the top 10 list of most contested books in the country.
The fact that she often chose to describe these acts from the point of view of the perpetrator in order to make him sympathetic to the reader is nuance. As a bona fide knuckle-dragging conservative, I would suggest that whether it is nuance or not, it is also dangerous, confusing, potentially psychologically damaging to a 16 or 17 year old, and actually outrageously demeaning to the black characters in the novel.

The American Academy of Pediatrics studies and develops policies pertaining to youth from birth through age 21, and specifically lists books as part of the mass media environment examined by their institution. The AAP states that exposure to violence in media has a significant risk on the health of children and adolescents and can contribute to aggressive behavior, desensitization to violence, nightmares and fear of being harmed. It is also associated with teen pregnancy and promiscuity. The AAP has also called on schools specifically to do more in the way of preventing young people from being exposed to and negatively impacted by harmful media.
Children are simply not mature enough to process the violent, incestuous sex scenes in the book. And yes, high school kids are still considered children! They are minors. They are not adults, and they are not in college. We need to use some common sense when choosing texts to be studied in the classroom. Children’s developing brains do not need to be assaulted with this notion of sexual violence. Educators are supposed to protect children from violence. So there is nuance, and then there is flat out, unadulterated, undeniable pornography and violence. I am not going to copy the excerpts from this novel. If you want to read them, and the rest of Ms. France's exceptional article about this book, go here. It is sexual content so graphic, so repulsive that reading it only entices the reader to experience the basest of human urgings. Explicit descriptions of sexual behavior so depraved that virtually all societies in history have forbidden such acts. But in today's enlightened world, incest, rape and pedophilia are simply nuances, artful constructs to convey the tortured yet sympathetic depravity of the helpless black person caught in a white world.

If I were a black person, I would be furious -- FURIOUS! at such a depiction. To suggest that being black is so monstrous a burden that one is helpless to prevent the fall into the most disgusting, degrading, and damaging of behaviors is to reduce black people almost to the level of animals. It is to suggest that simply because of their blackness they are incapable of loving themselves enough to have values, morals and principles that guide their behavior in constructive and healthy ways. This is outrageous -- and it is horribly demeaning.

Remember, the flip side to playing the eternal victim is that one must remain the eternal child. In "The Bluest Eye" author, Toni Morrison, tries to convince us that being black in a white world absolves one from everything by reducing the black person to a state of perpetual childhood, so that even the adults are drawn sympathetically as they prey on their own children.

And it's all whiteys' fault.

Democrats Never Get the Irony.

Greg Gutfeld is always very funny and typically insightful, but he missed on this one. Apparently Democrats WILL use children as props to protest their right to kill them.

Behold the little darlings holding protest signs defending
their mother's right to kill them.
Ponder, for a moment, the raging insanity of having your child hold up a sign protesting a bill that would limit abortion past 20 weeks. This child is PROTESTING against setting limits on his mommy's right to KILL him indiscriminately. These women are showing their moral courage and outrage at the idea that requiring them to figure out whether they want a child or not within the first FIVE MONTHS of pregnancy is anti-women.

It's anti-stupid, that's for sure.

You've got to be an utter moron to not have made up your mind about whether you want the child or not before 20 weeks have passed. There are guideposts, kittens. Markers, if you will.

First Marker: You decide to have sex. If you REALLY don't want children, don't have sex. As my brother, the scientist, likes to say, "No exposure. No risk."

Second Marker: You decide to have unprotected sex. If you REALLY don't want children, and being celibate isn't your thing, then at least use proper birth control. Remember that? That was supposed to make abortions rare. 56 million dead babies rare.

Third Marker: You realize you've missed your period and, knowing you had sex, figure you'd better discover whether you're pregnant or not. You then make the decision as to whether you want the "unexpected" pregnancy. Remember, kittens, this bill does not in any way restrict abortions in the first trimester. If you're going to do it, get after it. Waiting won't make things better, honey.

Fourth Marker: The marker of STUPIDITY. There does seem to be a lot of stupid to go around here, kittens. Apparently there are vast numbers of women who need to be protected against the tyranny of others who feel they should be just a trifle smarter and make this decision a tad sooner, before the "clump of cells" is indisputably a baby - a baby that can feel pain.

The best thing about being a liberal Democrat is that you can vociferously protest for your right to be stupid selfish, stupid indecisive, stupid irresponsible, stupid immature, stupid promiscuous, and stupid stupid. And do it feeling supremely smart. Go figure.

The next best thing about being a liberal Democrat is that you can protest for whatever you want according to your momentary impulse. Everything is "for the children", unless it's for women who want to kill the children, then it's anti-woman if you're still for the children. Get it?

But these are also the main reasons I'm not a liberal Democrat. The stupidity is exhausting, and I simply find it impossible to stay up to date on what I am for and what I'm against and why. It's all too tiring.

And it's getting really weird.

Game of Thrones - UPDATED WITH BEST EXPLANATION EVER FOR ALL THAT GRATUITOUS SEX

I'm late to the party. VERY late. I don't care. I wish I'd never come to this stupid party.

I officially HATE this grossly violent, grossly sexual series. And not just because it is grossly violent and grossly sexual. But mostly because it is also grossly stupid. I mean honestly, if you want me to put up with disembowlings, beheadings, doggie sex and dwarf sex, then AT LEAST give me some decent writing. GAAAAAAH!

Believe me, I tried. I watched the season premier. I hated it. I watched the first four episodes of the first season. I hated every single second of every single one.

I quit.

But the funny part of this is that my daughter recently told the story of a party she attended where they were playing a guessing game. The rules were you gained the most points the fewer words you used to help your team guess the answer. The answers were all popular movies, songs, or TV shows.

First Guy, giving his first clue to his team: DRAGONS!

Team: Huh?

First Guy: Dragons -- with PORN!

Team: GAME OF THRONES!

Winner.

I could just puke.

Even a blind chicken gets a few acorns.

After all the ridiculously stupid things Maher has said over the last few years, he was due for an "acorn." The kernel of truth, if you will.

"You're wrong about that. And you're wrong about your facts. Now, obviously, most Muslim people are not terrorists. But ask most Muslim people in the world if you insult the Prophet, do you have what's coming to ya?"
This is it in a nutshell, kittens. All other arguments, protestations, accusations of intolerance shown by other religions, past behavior, historical references -- all of it -- is quite simply bullshit. Islam does not require that every single practicing Muslim throw a bomb or slit a throat, but it DOES require that every single practicing Muslim BELIEVE that bomb throwing and throat slitting are right and proper according to the LAWS of their religion.

Point out the passages in the Bible where it says that a Christian should behead, maim, rape, pillage, terrorize or in any way harm someone for their faith or lack thereof.  I'll wait.

Oh...and while I'm waiting, does anyone else find it hysterically funny that the Director for the Center of Hate and Extremism is himself insinuating that we should hate -- with extremism -- Pamela Geller, author of the well known blog, Atlas Shrugs, by calling her an Islamophobe without even attempting to offer any context or facts for his accusation? Seems we are supposed to take him at his word.

HAHAHAHA! Is irony always completely lost on liberals?

Without the 2nd Amendment, this joke doesn't make any sense.

And I'm not one to lightly give up a good joke.

Besides, of all the rights I've won as an American and a woman, the right to defend myself against someone who is almost certainly going to be bigger and stronger is the one right I refuse to give up.

I'll pay for my own birth control, thank you. And my own bullets.

Voter fraud IS voter suppression.

Brilliant point.

The Democrats' most vociferous and intransigent point concerning Voter Id laws is that they would serve to "suppress" the vote of the poor and the minorities. Put aside the uncomfortable reality that once that gauntlet of unassailable racism is thrown, there is never any explanation of HOW or WHY it actually suppresses the votes of anyone. Our Virtual President explains how it all actually works. And it's not the way the Democrats have told us it works.

Adam Carolla is the coolest pirate ever. Part Two.

Evil but not-too-bright-sprite, Gavin Newsom
Our hero, Adam Carolla

In Part One we learned that our hero had an encounter with a nice-looking but evil and not-too-bright sprite from Never Never Judge Land. Our hero asked the evil sprite,  "Who is in charge?" since things in Never Never Judge Land are kind of crappy and all, despite the continued promises from the fairies and goblins and trolls that Lollipops and Candy Mountains are always just over the horizon. You know...FORWARD! and all that.

#1 Evil Guy promising the world.

The evil sprite said that the mess wasn't his fault because the magic spell to create the secret world of U-TOE-PEE-AHHHHH! and guarantee Happily-Ever-After had been mysteriously broken and no one knew how to put it together again. Just like Humpty Dumpty.  Breaking it, he explained, had been very, very complicated and involved many, many things that people like our hero could not understand so the sprites and fairies and goblins and trolls and ogres couldn't be blamed - no matter what - because they had spent a sh*t ton of Other People's Money trying to create U-TOE-PEE-AHHHH! to prove they really, really cared.

When our brave hero suggested that maybe the decided lack of Happily-Ever-After in Never Never Judge Land was precisely because of the monetary and social policies the sprite and his flunkies had promoted for decades, the evil and not-too-bright-sprite got huffy and said our hero was "over simplifying" things. Not-too-bright sprites never want you to realize that the solutions to problems are really quite straightforward and simple, otherwise you might understand that they aren't even trying to fix the problems. They are trying to get their magic wands to work so that they don't have to.

But our hero pressed the issue and won the day! And the evil but not-too-bright sprite was left going, "But..but...but.." which isn't much of a magic spell and didn't work against our brave hero.

Your stammering only makes me stronger.

Unfortunately many, many, many, many, many, many people were unhappy about this victory over the not-too-bright sprite because, if left to stand, it would force them all to admit that the spells and magic and fairy dust was a bunch of malarky and that the secret land of U-TOE-PEE-AHHHHH! which would guarantee Happily-Ever-After did not, in fact, exist. So the trolls in charge of the MSM (Making Sh*t Magic) pounced on our hero and said he was worse than the worst troll or ogre because, instead of just wanting to destroy people and eat their hearts out (while assuring them that you really cared), our hero wanted to make people FEEL BAD. And if you did that, then no one would EVER find U-TOE-PEE-AHHHHH! and Happily-Ever-After.

But just when all seemed lost for our hero because everyone was ganging up on him, he revealed that he had a pirate ship!! And off he sailed.

HHAHAHAAAAAHAHA! ARRRRGGGHH!

So now, in Part Two, we learn that after our hero sailed off into the sunset, shouting back his salty, piratey expletives to the not-too-bright sprite, he and his crew ran into The Giant Irish Guy who never lets anyone spin, which is a very good thing when you're in a ship. No one wants to run into one of these:

Our hero isn't worried because he always tells the truth.

So our hero explained to us all that you can't get to U-TOE-PEE-AHHHHH! and Happily-Ever-After if you never never judge anyone for anything, especially if you also reward them for doing stuff that will make them very, very UN-Happily-Ever-After. So Never Never Judge Land will never never create U-TOE-PEE-AHHHHH! and Happily-Ever-After no matter HOW much magic or money the sprites and fairies and goblins and trolls and ogres try to use.

Not. Ever.

Then our hero told us what really DOES make people happy. Besides good character, dedication, commitment to responsibilities and being accountable for your actions.

Hard Work.

Hard Work is powerful magic.

Now you know the secret to pirate magic. The evil but not-too-bright sprite and all his minions and all their political magic which gives them Other People's Money will never bring you U-TOE-PEE-AHHHHHH! and Happily-Ever-After. But it will bring you this:

Good luck with that, mateys.

As for me...Yo Ho! Yo Ho! A pirate's life for me.

Math is hard.

Rep. Maxine Waters gave this dire prediction about sequestration at a Thursday press conference: The United States would experience a loss of 170 million jobs, if Congress and the White House fail to strike an agreement.

Only thing is: The Bureau of Labor Statistics says there are only about 140 million jobs in the United States, as Breitbart reports.

Either she's lying or she's stupid. Take your pick. Okay, I'll give you a third option: All of the above.

I just want to know if Maxine can make change at the corner store with both shoes on.

Actually I blame Obama for this level of WTF stupidity.

When you have the leader of your own party making constant, outrageous threats and lying through his teeth every day with the most hilariously over-the-top predictions of cannibalism and meteor strikes because of sequestration, the people who get most worked up by the frantic atmosphere are the idiots who follow him with absolute devotion.

Once lying and threats become the standard of communication from your Dear Leader, who among the devoted Politburo will deny themselves the opportunity to get some of that attention?

Not Maxie, that's for sure.

Finally a dance for white boys.

Is that racist? Probably. If Affirmative Action could in any way advance the dancing skills of the average white guy, I'd be all for it. But alas, the only way to insure white guys can dance is to create the Harlem Shake, a dance where no one actually dances.

Even NORWEGIANS can do it.

Okay...here we go again. I hate having to constantly go back through old posts to check on whether a video posted on YouTube is still available so that y'all don't see the infamous BLACK SCREEN. But in the interests of sanity, I hereby notify all readers of this blog that I am only going to do it ONCE per post. I'm fed up with having to do it over and over again. If people out there want to "own" shit like the above video as if it MATTERS and HAS VALUE, go right ahead.

Oh. And NOW it's the U.S. Army, the Brits AND the Norwegians shaking it.

Sumpin' Just Don't Add Up.

"Don't just stand there!
Start shooting!"
Over the last couple of days a series of stories have crossed my newsfeed that have, when taken together, raised my level of concern from, "Things are getting a bit sticky" to "Better start shooting!"

First, over at DOUBLEPLUSUNDEAD, alexthechick posted yesterday about the citizen resistance concerning gun control and confiscation in New York. NEW YORK. Pause and let that sink in. New York. Neeeeeew York! New York is supposed to be a "smart" state, like California or Illinois. You know, run by Democrats and filled with liberals. SMART-smart. They certainly aren't supposed to be the location of the beginning of the revolution.

"Bring it on!"

As Alex notes, this video is "chilling." Chilling because only 40 years ago this scene was unthinkable in America. Now it has happened and we have police officers and officials taunting the crowd of law-abiding citizens with, "Bring it on!"

Bring it on. Really? I think, perhaps, he should consider the wisdom of that challenge.

Then, hilariously, we have the Department of Homeland Security releasing a video instructing ADULTS in the fine art of cowering.

The highly instructional video is entitled, "Options for Consideration Active Shooter Training Video." One will notice that shooting back is not an option. Cowering, hiding, running away, begging for help from 911, leaving behind wounded victims, fearing for your life, peeing in your pants, becoming hysterical (but quietly so the active shooter won't actively find you and actively shoot you), are all considered much better options than being armed and just shooting the fucker dead. Oh, and if you HAVE to fight back, use scissors.  Excellent advice. I've always known scissors were dangerous. Remember that warning about running with them? I think I've made my point.

My sense is that DHS would very much like to convince us that cowering in fear is the appropriate response to ANY show of force...even theirs. Especially theirs. And the military...e-ven.

Citizens, it is coming down to a couple of options. Grab your guns and prepare for battle or run away. OH! I forgot. Grab your scissors is the third choice.

I always thought Monty Python was a farce, not a tactical choice of adult men and women.

But wait! There's more. If they can't make you frightened and defenseless in the face of open aggression and violent threats, maybe they will just kill you all civilized like. Krazy Krugman gives away the game. (Bolding entirely mine.)
"And we’re also going to have to make decisions about health care, doc pay for health care that has no demonstrated medical benefits . So the snarky version…which I shouldn’t even say because it will get me in trouble is death panels and sales taxes is how we do this."
Why, hello, kittens. What have we here? The compassion of liberals married to the pragmatic use of force - which is all the state really is and so force is all it's capable of using to fix a problem. And as the esteemed and really, really smart Mr. Krugman admits, "Eventually we do have a problem." Really? That's not good because when states have "problems" -- big problems -- people end up dead. Every time. Always.

Or course they intend to tax you into poverty, then kill you. Nice. Mustn't "off" anyone who is still useful to the state.

The smart, kind, caring people believe we have too many of you and not enough money for them, so please go quietly or be shot. You get to choose. Well, damnit! I'm not going and I have SCISSORS! Get BACK!!!

The last story would be funny if it weren't becoming so nauseatingly familiar. The liberal elite are threatening us with their attack dogs. DHS and the military aren't enough. No, they are revving up the teachers. Yes, indeed. Mrs. Brown and Mr. Miller. You're kindergarten teacher. You're biology teacher. Just make anyone beholden to the Great God of Government for a couple of decades (in this case via the Department of Education and the NEA) and you create foaming-at-the-mouth greed and insanity. The trick is keeping the crazed teachers under control when they keep attending rallies where leaders are saying this kind of nonsense:
Lethal working conditions apparently
don't include loss of lunchroom privileges.

"The labor leaders of that time, though, were ready to kill. They were. They were just - off with their heads. They were seriously talking about that."

The comment drew laughs and some scattered applause before Lewis added, "I don't think we're at that point. The key is that they think nothing of killing us. They think nothing about putting us in harm's way. They think nothing about lethal working conditions."

Killing teachers. Callously. Routinely, it would seem. Lethal working conditions. Uh-hmmm....Lethal. Working. Conditions. One can only assume that she is talking about schools. Schools where our own children spend most of their days from age 6 to 18. Schools with lethal working conditions. I missed the news broadcasts where the little darlings and their desperately noble teachers were being taken out on gurneys virtually every day as we ruthlessly allowed them to DIE. What kind of people are we??? MY GOD! We deserve to die. Here's my scissors. I'll go quietly.

If you're going to be stupid, you'd better be pretty

Actually, I agree with her.

Miss Iowa, on the legalization of marijuana:

Answers like that - and a pretty smile - can get you 4th place. Okay.

But where did Miss California end up, because this answer is positively brilliant.

That muddled response was overshadowed by Miss California, Leah Cecil whom responded to a pre-pageant question on ABC about her thoughts on euthanasia, “That’s a vaccine, right?”

That is right, sweetheart. It cures everything.

Of course, no post on the stupidity of beauty contestants is complete without revisiting that classic by Miss South Carolina:

I personally believe U.S. Americans are unable to do so because uuuh...some people out there in our nation don't have maps...but they have GUNS! So we're good. Somebody shoot something, will ya?

Smart AND fashion savvy. Judge, we have a winner!
