DEMOCRATS THINK WE ARE STUPID

They must.  Their lying about the creation and manipulation of the War On Women and their open attacks on Ann Romney are so blatant, almost taunting, as they smile into the cameras, that the only possible explanation is that they think we are stupid. Or cowards.

One of the best descriptions of propaganda I have ever read was a quote from Theodore Dalrymple:
In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One's standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control.
The Democrats are testing our willingness to accept obvious lies. Remember Goebbels.

Betsy from Betsy's Page gives us a very good assessment:

The Democrats' denial that they ever talked about a GOP "war on women" is, in a microcosm, an illumination of their modus operandi.

First they gin up a total phony point that they trumpet in the worst sorts of demagoguery. Somehow, thinking that religious institutions shouldn't have to provide free coverage of birth control and the morning after pill if that conflicts with their religion's tenets becomes a war on women. Remember, we weren't arguing over women having to cover a co-payment for their birth control, but that it should be provided free of charge by their insurance companies. No other health product was being mandated to be provided for free - not cancer, heart, or diabetes medicine.
[...]
And then when the whole thing backfires in their faces, they suddenly turn about and deny that they ever were talking about a "war on women." Suddenly, they start claiming that it is just the Republicans who used that term.
[...]
And there you have the Democrats' m.o. In a few short weeks they go from demagoguery to denial and hope that no one notices.
I would only disagree on the last point. I don't believe they care whether anyone notices. The media is on their side; their supporters have long since lost any sense that truth is more important than the accumulation of power. It is only to us that they lie - and they do it with a frank "what are you going to do about it?" arrogance.

I would even go so far as to say they WANT us to notice. They want us to feel the outrage and perhaps the impotence of knowing we are being lied to as the media spins and twirls and dances, and the music plays on.

It is demoralizing and they know it.
