Missing Friends

I can't say good bye to 2014 without acknowledging that many blogs which I love...DEARLY love...to read have gone silent. I understand how busy life is. I know that coming up with something every day or week that is more than just a "look-at-me!" post is a struggle, especially after a year or so of blogging, and I REALLY understand that as one's readership goes up, one's unaffected joie de vivre goes right out the window and you begin to question everything you write until you can't write a thing.

I get it.

But still, I miss:

Rachel Lucas

Velociworld

Sheri Gilmour

Parkway Rest Stop

The Doctor Is In

These were all blogs which, while sometimes political, were more often personal, funny, insightful, thought-provoking. The political blogs which I enjoy reading never seem to tire, bless their hearts. Of course, we can all concede that they have fresh meat every. fucking. day with Prince Peevish the Incompetent in office. But these AWOL blogs I've listed rummaged through the vast landscape of human folly with hilarious anecdotes or aha! insight and now they are all gone. Dead. MIA.

RIP.

  1. I really miss Rachel's blog. Oh well, time marches on and she's been on hiatus before so maybe she'll come back some day.

    1. I don't know. She and I were great pals...exchanging voice memos daily...weekly...trading stories about our lives and I was looking forward to her arrival in the US. Then...nothing. I have to admit it really stung for a long while and I missed her funny voice memos filled with expletives and fleshed out stories. But I think she is fantastically, wonderfully re-engaged with family and work and friends, which she didn't have during her European sojourn, and blogging is no longer necessary to fill the loneliness.

  2. I would add Dr. Sanity to that list as well. Here's hoping one day they blog again.

But, as you say she now has a busy life, and I'm glad for her. She's good peoples.

    1. I imagine Rachel is finally wonderfully busy and surrounded by friends and family. I miss her, too, but wish her the best. She is, as you say, good peoples.

  4. Add Frothing Mouth to the "closed for business" list.

At least one might reasonably hope these bloggers are alive and well, just changed focus of of their creative energy.

Others are physically off the face of this planet; last year it was a terrible shock and loss to me when I learned Jeffro and Scott passed away

    1. HAHAHAHAHA! Frothing Mouth! Well, if there was ever a more perfect typo, I can't think of it. Yes, I even thought of her and then screwed up and forgot to put her on the list. Miss her, too.

    2. And I never read Jeffro and Scott...but I'm sorry to hear that because it was obviously painful for you.

None of us are promised a single second. It reminds us to send love and comfort whenever and wherever we can.

  6. Hi Buttercup, hope you don't mind my piping up. You're on my radar, er, reader now ;)

Anyway, yes to all of those. I only ever lurked at any of their places, but they are missed. At least we still have Look, A Baby Wolf.

    1. LOVE Look! A Baby Wolf. Glad she's still around. And Fetch My Flying Monkeys with Laura. She's still (sort of) writing...but it's been awhile for her, too.
