"DID I SAY REDUCE?"

Remember way back...go waaaaaaaay back...in, like, January of this year?  The president, in his State of the Union address, was all like:

"Tax reform should follow the Buffett Rule. 

[...] 
That’s how we’ll reduce our deficit." 

And it wasn't about class warfare or envy. He even said so. It was common sense. It would solve everything.

Really?

No, not really, kittens.  

"The Obama administration is emphasizing “fairness” over deficit reduction in its renewed pitch for the “Buffett rule” ahead of next week’s scheduled Senate vote.

Introducing a minimum 30 percent income tax on millionaires “was never our plan to bring the deficit down and get the debt under control,” Jason Furman, the principal deputy director of the White House National Economic Council, told reporters on a conference call Monday afternoon."

Now it really is all about fairness.  Which is just like saying it's about class warfare and envy, only while not actually saying it.
