I keep thinking of Horton Hears A Who. Everyone was yelling and just one little additional voice was the deciding factor.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I've been sort of down since the Roberts' decision. When you add his treachery into the nasty stew that has been Obama's last three years, it becomes depressing. But last night I was on a conference call with my Congressman and he was really inspiring, noting how our country has had dark days in our past and every time the American people rose to the occasion and saved our country. We must be up to the task this time as well.Buttercuphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10201235659652895050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-555191244102972923.post-29557542212789047192012-07-06T16:20:11.149-07:002012-07-06T16:20:11.149-07:00Take heart. You are contributing to truth. Good question. So far it's non-fiction, but we could always do "composites" like our president. You know, just make shit up and call it true.

Honestly, I'm still pretty pessimistic, too, but trying to stir the old "Let's roll!" kind of response. My deep belief is that humanity doesn't really WANT to be free. That freedom such as we once had in this country was an anomaly in human history precisely because people don't really want it. The normal condition of humans is to give over autonomy for security. Tribe society. Feudal society. Communes. Church. Divine right of kings. There was just one time in all of human history where a few weirdos got in a leaky boat and said, "Screw this. I'm leaving." Remember, MOST -- BY FAR!! -- of the people stayed right where they were, even though the desperate burdens of subjugation were just as severe on them. MOST people were simply okay with living their lives shackled to the king or the pope or whomever. Shackles bring security.

So we were free, for a short time, until that freedom created prosperity (which it always does) and prosperity brought the others over who did not come when it was risky and hard and uncertain. And they set about creating security as soon as they could.

Unless there is a way to educate people so that they understand what they are relinquishing for security, we are doomed. IMHO. We once understood that here. That is what made us so unique.Buttercuphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10201235659652895050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-555191244102972923.post-32088352569895206362012-07-05T00:12:10.920-07:002012-07-05T00:12:10.920-07:00I hope you're right that we'll eventually ...I hope you're right that we'll eventually win. My pessimism isn't lifting yet and I wonder if it's because I'm not IN America where you can feel opportunity and a bright future in the air.

"The Drinking Closet" - should it be fiction or nonfiction?Rachel Lucashttp://www.rachellucas.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-555191244102972923.post-39390935371297407412012-07-04T13:10:28.834-07:002012-07-04T13:10:28.834-07:00There are never "enough of us." Not in ...There are never "enough of us." Not in any conflict with good vs evil or right vs wrong. We are always outnumbered. But we always win. Eventually.

'Cause we're the good guys.

I still think we should write a book entitled "The Drinking Closet."

Supremely awesome title.Buttercuphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10201235659652895050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-555191244102972923.post-64060195306078367142012-07-04T09:06:01.612-07:002012-07-04T09:06:01.612-07:00In the closet.
